Same Shit, Different River: Creator of ‘Yellowstone’ Foregoes Originality, Announces Spin-off: ‘Madison’
By: “Steady” Eddie Grant
ENNIS, MT - Taylor Sheridan, the creator of the Yellowstone TV series (and its prequels), made an important decision recently—to actively avoid any creative thinking for his next project: Madison.
Yellowstone’s glorious dumpster fire of a series ending began with mega-star Kevin Costner’s decision to exit and put all his effort into other, equally mediocre projects. A few big names were tossed around to replace Costner, including Matthew McConaughey, but they all passed. If you believe the Hollywood gossip rags, word is that Sheridan is a little difficult to work with. A-listers like Costner and McConaughey don’t need to put up with that nonsense. But, like we said, this is more rumor than fact, not unlike the existence of Bigfoot. (See page 11.)
With no other avenues to keep Yellowstone going, Sheridan decided to do what he does best—shelve any attempt at creative genius and focus passionately on clichés and mediocrity. You can imagine the agonizing 30 seconds it must have taken to come up with a show named after another nearby Montana river.

Add to that the new project’s unoriginal premise: Michelle Pfeiffer stars as the wife of an NYC investment banker, living in Madison, with a penchant for spending money and pissing off the locals. There’s no word on how a ranch might figure into this, but you can bet your bottom dollar there will be one, along with fly fishing and unhappy residents frowning on the carpetbagging developers.
You have to hand it to Sheridan. Why bother thinking up anything new if they’ll pay you just as well to produce the same old shit? At least he recycles. •
